Meet Emmy, she was born with a cleft palate. At six weeks she came to see us. A bundle of happy, adorable puppy!

At 9 weeks of age she underwent surgery to repair her cleft palate.

Dr. Veenis and Emmy in surgery

After a long surgery this is what it looked like post operatively.

As part of her recovery, Emmy was not allowed to eat or put anything in her mouth for weeks. In order to feed her a feeding tube was placed. This tube goes through the skin on the neck into the esophagus. It is sutured and bandaged into place. We kept Emmy comfortable post op. For weeks after surgery, Emmy's dedicated owner fed her through a feeding tube and kept her from chewing.....which is no easy feat!!

Here our technician Betty, is tube feeding Emmy.

We all fell in love with this little face

After weeks of tube feeding and owner diligence this is the finished product. A happy puppy with a wonderful new mouth.
